20. James Davis⁴ Townsend (Henry³, John², Thomas¹) was born Melksham, Wilts 1814. James died 1888 Bath, at 74 years of age.

He married Esther Mary Stone St James, Trowbridge, 16th January 1840. Esther was born Trowbridge/Bradford, Wilts 1819. Esther was the daughter of John Stone and Jane Cox. Esther died 1886 Bath, at 67 years of age.

James Davis Townsend and Esther Mary Stone had the following children:

+ 30 i. Edwin James Stone⁵ Townsend was born 31st October 1840.

31 ii. George Stone Townsend was born Melksham (Trowbridge?) 1842. George died 1842 Melksham (Trowbridge?), at less than one year of age.

+ 32 iii. James Edward Stone Townsend was born 17th January 1844.

+ 33 iv. Frederick John Stone Townsend was born 1845.

34 v. Henry Stone Townsend was born Silver Street Trowbridge, Wiltshire 28th August 1847. Henry died 1916 16 Hamilton Road, South Wimbledon, at 68 years of age. His body was interred 11th July 1916 Wimbledon Cemetery.

35 vi. Caroline Jane Stone Townsend was born Trowbridge Sept 1849.

36 vii. Edward Hampton Stone Townsend was born 2 Gays Buildings, Walcot, Bath 26th May 1851. Edward died 26th July 1889 Brompton Hospital South Wing, at 38 years of age. His body was interred 31st July 1889 Brompton Cemetery.

37 viii. John S Townsend was born Bath c1855.

38 ix. Louisa Jane Townsend was born 1864/1865.
